MK Off Road Trials Club Rules

2026 West Midlands Trials Championship

Description

  • 5 Events – all 5 to count

  • Anyone can ride the championship, weather AMCA members or not.

  • Everyone scores points

  • Youth will be scored separate to adult - Youth is all between the ages of 4-17.

Routes

Route 1. Hard – Red/Blue

Route 2. Hard/Middle 50/50

Route 3. Middle – Yellow flags

Route 4. Middle/Novice 50/50

Route 5. Novice – White flags

A ‘50/50 Ride Hard’ or ‘50/50 Ride Easy’ sign at the start of the section is for those on the 50/50 routes. So a Ride Hard sign for those on route 2 would mean they ride route 1. For those on route 4, you would ride route 3.

If it says ‘50/50 Ride Easy’, then those on route 2 will ride route 3, and those on route 4 will ride route 5.

Eligible bikes

Trials motorcycles only.

All machines must have a magnetic cut out device fitted. This is mandatory for our insurance, and you cannot ride without one.

We ask that all riders who ride with us provide an observer at least once through the year.

We are using the ACU system for entering & leaving a section of front wheel spindle passing the start/finish.

Baulk

A baulk is deemed to occur when a rider is prevented from making an attempt to ride a section due to outside obstruction. (rider/observer accidentally stepping in the way) Should a rider claim a baulk, the observer can allow a re-run of the section – either at the point the baulk happened or from the start.

We ask for a £5 non refundable deposit to secure a place. We will limit entries to some venues depending on the space available.

If the event is cancelled for any reason, the deposit is refundable/transferable.

£20 Adult AMCA License Holder

£5+ Day Entry For Non License Holders.

Riders Meeting

A meeting will only be called if deemed absolutely necessary. Riders will be spoken to at signing on and all instructions will be given out before the event via facebook. When the trial is ready to start, a horn will sound.

Practicing

Absolutely no riding in any  parking area whatsoever. Bikes are to be pushed.

A designated warm up area will be marked off where possible. Please feel free to ride here before the trial starts. Please ride sensibly and be aware of other riders.

When there is not a designated warm up area, please do not practice in or through the sections.

Please ride the sections in the order they were set out.

The sections will be left out after the trial. Please feel free to practice only when everyone has finished.

Jetwashing

Jetwashing is not permitted at the venues we are using.

Results & Awards

Results will be posted on the afternoon/evening of the trial.

We are hoping to secure sponsorship for prizes for top 3 Open Championship Riders.

For a rider to receive an award at the end of the year, they must have entered atleast 3 rounds.

Camping

Where possible, camping will be permitted. However this will need to be cleared with the landowners/clubs beforehand. Please ask before arriving to camp, but we really encourage camping at events!

Youth – Adult Riders

We ask that those adults attending to be mindful of the kids.

If you can, point a line out to them, give them a clap. Say well done in a queue. It can mean more than you realise.

Try not to clear your bike out without checking behind you in a queue first. You could be filling a kids face full of smoke.

Behaviour

We want an welcoming environment for all. Our trials have always been trouble free, happy relaxed environments.

We have had issues before with people moving flags, or adding/removing kickers. To make it clear, only an Observer or Andy, Caz, Kayleigh or Jack (who may have been asked by us) are allowed to move anything.

Obviously if you are replacing one that’s fell out, this is fine and appreciated.

Anyone caught moving flags to physically alter a section could be asked to leave and will be disqualified from the event and championship.

Sponsorship

We have no sponsors for 2026 at the time of writing. We need some support to purchase trophies and awards. If you know anyone who can help, please let us know.
