10TEN MX-E Review

What's the deal? We take a closer look....

When we think of an electric MX bike, there are a few options now. Cheap toys, OSET MX-10 or KTM's SX-E5. Each with different capabilities and price tags. So where does 10Ten's MX-E fit in all this?

Design

The MX-E looks fantastic. It has sharp stickers and lines with the proper look of a motorcross bike. The quality of the plastics and graphics is high, and on par with the OSET MX-10.

Battery

The battery is a 48v 8.7ah lithium battery. This won't run as long as the OSET MX-10, which has a 20ah battery. But this is of course reflected in the price! 

The battery is removable. The key is entered into the side, and it slides out from the rear, underneath the seat.

Chain

Like the brakes, heavy duty. While the OSET's use a go-kart style chain, the 10TEN uses a more conventional motorcyle chain.

Suspension

Adequate quality suspension front and rear. It works well. It doesn't have the adjustment that the OSET MX-10's setup has, but the 10TEN MX-E does make up for it with it's impressive price tag.

Brakes

The brakes are pretty heavy duty! More like motorcycle brakes. Hydraulic, with large master cylinders and lines. It's the same setup as the OSET here. Front right hand, rear left hand.

Tyres

Tyres are MMG. They are a decent quality knobbly tyre. On par with the OSET MX-10's Innova's

Equipment & Safety

Throttle lights, key switch, on/off switch, barttery on/off switch & high/low speed switch all make up for some impressive and well thought out safety features of the bike. While snail cam adjustment is a very welcome sight for adjusting the chain. It's good to see a side stand which is a useful feature maybe missed by some on the OSET MX-10. The footpegs are a little basic but adequate and strong.

Motor & Performance

The motor is an impressive 48v brushless unit. It pumps out less power than the OSET MX-10, and produces less torque. But the top speed of the 10Ten is higher. Around 27mph compared to 22 on the MX-10

Summary 

The OSET MX-10 has a better battery, footpegs, suspension and power adjustability. But at £999, compared to £2499, the 10TEN MX-E is a fantastic option for new riders looking to take their first steps into the sport!
